Emergencies happen. When they do, it’s nice to know someone is just a phone call away. I experienced this first hand, not once, but multiple times over the years. Each time I called MultiCare, they were there to help. My dad, Merlin, fell and broke his hip. He didn’t want to recover in the rehabilitation center and was adamant about leaving. But, he’d had a hip replacement, so he needed skilled care. I didn’t know where to turn. In desperation, I called MultiCare hoping that home care might be the answer. MultiCare helped my family bring him home, walking us through the process. Skilled nursing, physical therapy and even speech therapy came right to his home. It wasn’t long before he was looking forward to these visits. Occupational therapy introduced safety equipment and taught him to use it properly to prevent falls. MultiCare is a light in my parents’ storm. They provided exceptional health care services to both my mom and dad, allowing them to stay independent in the comfort of their home. Things didn’t stop there, however. Shortly after my father’s care, my daughter, Brittanie, developed a spot on her leg that turned quickly into a life threatening infection and was complicated by the fact that she was expecting a baby. After an emergency surgery, MultiCare stepped in to help! This time ultilizing their wound care nurse to assist Brittanie in her home. She received excellent care and the baby was unharmed. But, little Achilles was born with a rare genetic blood disorder that would require daily injections. Brittanie, still recovering from surgery herself, was unable to drive to the doctor’s office for the shots. MultiCare sent a skilled nurse to give daily shots to my grandson while my daughter continued to heal.

My father fell and broke his hip. I had to bring him from Moscow and Multicare took incredible care of him. Ben and Will the physical therapists were patient and very kind to him. They explained things several times so he would understand. Elisa and her co worker were a great help in getting my house so it was really slip proof and convenient for him to get around. After having shoulder surgery, I had the privilege of having Claire as the Physical Therapist come to my home to assist me in my exercises to get my range of motion back. When a person who has been active most of their life is in the position of having to be cared for by others, it is hard for them to be gracious all the time. Mark did a pretty good job of being patient, but even when he was not, everyone just gave him good, pleasant care. I really appreciated the fact that they continued to treat him with respect and not be rude or short with him.
The scheduling was always acceptable to you when I needed more or less time for the providers. You never made me feel like I was a nuisance or were being incovenient when changes needed to be made. “After many months of being confined to a bed or wheelchair, due to a broken leg, Edwina, age 101, began physical therapy under the direction of Ben Shatto of MultiCare Home Health. In the beginning, any improvement in her physical abilities was questionable, but as the various exercises progressed, there was marked improvement in these abilities. From being barely able to take any steps with the aid of a walker, she is now able to walk 50 or 60 feet with the walker.
